We are planning a trip with 5 full days of hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park during August 5 to August 13. Waterton Lakes Park is located in the south west corner of Alberta, and borders the Glacier National Park on the USA side of the border. This region is considered to be one the best hiking areas in North America.
The plan is to drive to Waterton Lakes with an overnight stay on the way. We will stay in a motel located at the Waterton Town Site, and go on day hikes from that location. The motel accommodations are sparse, and will require some sharing of rooms and beds. Two motel units will have kitchenettes available for "group" cooking, and there are also local restaurants within walking distance for those who wish to eat out.
There are many hiking opportunities for B , C, and D level hikers, so there should be something of interest for everyone.
We have reserved accommodation for 20 people, and the cost of the trip including accommodation, carpool fees, and park use fees is expected to be between $450 to $550 per person. This does not include food. Advance payment for accommodation will be determined later, and be required by April 25, 2008.
