BOC Christmas Party
BOC Christmas Party report prepared by Monisha Shukla
18 revellers (16 BOC members and 2 guests) got together on December 20th to celebrate Christmas and the Holiday Season.
The room looked quite festive with seasonal decorations and as people started trickling in, it started smelling quite festive too - thanks to all the wonderful potluck dishes that everyone brought along.
After a very satisfying meal, everyone was ready to engage in some healthy competition, play some games and win some prizes. A random draw was done and the winner was awarded a door prize and then the games began.
The first game involved landing a ping pong ball into any one of the silo cups in the silo cup Christmas tree. Random chits were drawn to determine the order in which folks will get to play. We witnessed a lot of interesting and entertaining throwing styles (over hand, under hand, with a bounce, without a bounce, with multiple bounces etc.) as everyone took several attempts to the get the ball into a cup. There was a lot of laughter and even some good-natured teasing as nine people won five dollars each, while others discovered a chocolate toonie in their cups.
Then came two rounds of Bingo which were a lot of fun. In each round, prizes were awarded for completing the first row, second row and third row first and the winners got to choose prizes from a pile of wrapped presents, in the order that they won. The two big winners (one from each round) were awarded $10 Tim Horton’s gift cards for completing their entire card first.
After the games, BOC’s long-term webmaster Mr. Nicola Trajic was acknowledged for his selfless service over the years and handed a handmade card and a $50 gift certificate as a token of the club’s appreciation.
The night ended with a lot of warm hugs, seasons greetings and “I look forward to see you soon again” messages. Everyone went home with smiles on their faces and the satisfaction of having spent an evening in the company of others who also love the great outdoors, just like them.
