Hayward Lake Hike

On a nice cloudy sunny day 5 B.O.C. hikers left the Hayward Lake Recreation

Site parking lot to begin our hike.  The trail was mostly a grassy rocky service road with some climbing. There were lots of salmon berries, huckleberries, thimble berries, mountain blackberries and a few cherry trees.  It was a very peaceful hike with lots of birds chirping and the ravens cawing. We did not encounter very many people on the trail.  We walked to the dam and headed back to a lovely beach where we ate our lunch.  We headed back to the public beach where a lifeguard was present and four of us had our first fresh water 2025 summer plunge. The water was refreshing.  It was a fun day.  Always nice to get away from the city.  Thanks to Gerard for driving and the photos.

Note:  In the past we have always done the east side of Hayward lake but I believe it won't be too long before the repairs are finished and we will be able to do the 17k round trip.
