BOC 35th Anniversary BBQ Picnic & Bunzen Lake hike

As part of the Burnaby Outdoor Club barbeque celebration, we also hiked the Buntzen Lake Trail. With twelve BOC members we started our hike on a beautiful Sunday morning from the South Beach on the Buntzen Lake Trail along the east side of the lake where we had several lake viewpoints. We stopped at the North Beach picnic area for a short break. From there, crossing the suspension bridge we continued along the Buntzen Lake Trail. The trail takes you through open areas underneath the owerline, through mature forest, across several bridges, then finally opens up onto Pumphouse Road. Follow this road south to the floating bridge across the southwest arm of Buntzen Lake. Cross the bridge and follow the trail back to South Beach where the barbeque and food was ready.

After hiking, We celebrated BOC’s 35th Anniversary with a wonderful BBQ picnic in the sunshine! Thanks to one of our BOC members, who generously donated a new grill. It was the perfect opportunity to gather together, enjoy some good food, and celebrate another year of BOC. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, while members also brought a delicious selection of homemade dishes, including vegetables, fruit, cake and chicken. We also made sure to have veggie burgers available for our vegetarian members. It was a lovely shared meal, and before long, everyone was full and happy! We spent the afternoon chatting, laughing, and enjoying the beautiful sunshine together. It was a memorable picnic and a wonderful way to celebrate 35 years of BOC friendship, hiking, and community.
