Brohm Lake

Nine hikers started early from Burnaby City Hall. After a drive of more than an hour, we began our hike at 8:30 am. From the main parking lot, we hiked a counter-clockwise loop around the lake, then followed the High Trail to the Tantalus Viewpoint. It was a good ascent before we reached the gorgeous views of the Tantalus Mountain Range. After a brief stop, we continued along the High Trail and Cheakamus Loop Trail, finally reaching the best view point for the Cheakamus River and Tantalus Ridge. We enjoyed lunch there and were glad to be the only group at the view point. We eventually exited the forest onto a newly built bridge to cross the lake, appreciating the beautiful spring wildflowers and mushrooms along the way. Upon returning to the parking lot, one hiker went for a swim while the rest of us sat at a picnic table to enjoy the view of the lake and mountains. Overall, it was a beautiful, scenic hike.

Many thanks for Gerard’s lead, driving and photograph.
