Poco Trail & Minnekhada

Bear sightings on this ride exceeded the number of participants by a count of five to three ! 

Departing from Lafarge Lake Skytrain station, we proceeded east and completed the DeBoville loop trail to Minnekhada Regional Park. All of the bears were seen close to, or actually on, cycling routes and roads.  At Minnekhada, we enjoyed a brief walk to the main pond area, then explored the historic Lodge which was completed in 1937.  Its massive main hall includes elaborate original timbers and chandeliers, plus a fine southern view.  The group then rode beside the scenic Pitt and Fraser Rivers, before turning north along the Coquitlam River though Colony Farm Park and back to our starting point.  Total distance ridden was aproximately forty km. A wonderful day -- with unexpected wildlife.
