Iona Beach bike ride
Aug 31 turned out to be another beautiful summer day. There was some cloud cover and we were lucky the relatively cooler temperature created a pleasant biking adventure for our group of 7, including 2 guests. Everyone met up at the Templeton Station and we set off along Templeton Street towards Ferguson Road and our destination, the Iona Beach Regional Park. Many thanks to Catherine who brought a bike pump that was put to good use and to Ivan for sharing the new bike path trail photo. We had a lot of fun during our leisurely ride, including time for a picnic lunch, before heading towards the terminus of the Iona jetty (an 8 km round trip ride on a shared bike path). We had the pleasure to see a variety of birds, the Strait of Georgia all around us, the UBC lands from afar, and not to be missed, numerous airplanes taking off from YVR. Reaching the end of the jetty was a first for majority of the group.
Many thanks to those who joined this ride, shared tips and photos, and the smiles all around.
