Woodhaven Swamp & Sasamat Lake, Belcarra Park

Gerard Laman

On a clear sunny but cold 3 o C morning, we hiked with three BOC members from Woodhaven Swamp to Sasamat Lake. We first hiked the loop around Woodhaven Swamp and then the connecting trail to Sasamat Lake. It was a beautiful and very quiet day. We only met one couple with their dog on the way to Sasamat Lake. The sun was shining through the trees which created beautiful sun rays. We hiked first to the floating bridge in Sasamat Lake where several fishermen were trying to catch a fish, but in the short time we were there they were not successful. At the sandy beach at Sasamat Lake we stopped for a relaxing lunch in the sun shine. After lunch we completed the hike around the lake and returned then on the trail back to Woodhaven Swamp. We had to hike up to gain the elevation we had lost when we hiked down to Sasamat Lake. We all had a great time on this short hike with beautiful nature and great sunny weather.
