Hayward Lake Loop

On a beautiful Sunday morning twelve hikers met at the Hayward lake recreation parking lot at 9:00 a.m to do the 18.5 k loop hike with the new 50 million floating bridge.The bridge is located at the southern end of the lake at the Hairsine Inlet. Seven hikers did the 1.6 k Stave Dam Interpretation Trail through a stunning forest with views of Hayward lake and the south gulf islands. You can google Stave Dam Interpretation Trail pdf stops.  Geordon had printed the 10 stops off and I had read them.  Some of the numbers on the trees were missing or we missed them but it was interesting.  We met up with the other five hikers at the bridge and then headed to the south beach for a swim and lunch. We finished the hike at 5:00 p.m. I have always liked this hike because there aren't many people hiking there and the forest is very lush. With the new bridge being completed and discovering the Stave Dam Interpretation trail it is well worth the drive.  Also a good lake for swimming.
