Petgill Lake
There were 4 BOCers and one guest met at 7am to carpool from Burnaby. Start from the Murrin Lake parking lot , the path rises steeply with many exposed roots and large rocks to be navigated. After hiking in the light rain for less than 30 minutes, the rain stopped and rays of sunlight started to come out. Excellent views of the Squamish area and Mt. Garibaldi rewarded us after forty-five minutes of climbing. The trail improved slightly as we followed an old logging road, but next came a series of gullies to descend and then ascend higher. At the three hour mark, the route passed above the lake and led to spectacular vistas of Howe Sound with its pale green hue. After a well-deserved lunch break, we made the return journey to the trailhead. Trip report and photos by Su-Jane and Sandy
